Find Peace Today

Whew! The big day is over. Relatives return to their homes. Children play with new toys. Leftovers fill the refrigerator. I imagine it was wonderful, hectic, exhausting, joyous… and now you are simply trying to take a deep breath, rest, and hope for a few days of peace to fully recover.

It’s wonderful that Jesus doesn’t only offer a few days of peace. He offers a permanent soul peace that you can experience everyday if you place your faith in Him. After all, Isaiah tells who Jesus is…

“For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us;And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

Jesus is literally the Prince of Peace. What does that really mean? It is the essence of His character. Peace originates and dwells in Him. And He offers His peace to you. Have you received it? Have you received Him?

Let’s all take a moment before we tackle the new challenges and opportunities of the New Year, and rest in the arms of the Prince of Peace. Ask Him for that peace that He described as “a peace that passes all understanding.” (Phil. 4:7) It is a supernatural peace only He can grant, that flows from the heart of God. Wouldn’t you like that peace today?

Jesus tells you, “Until now you have notasked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” (John 16:24) Just ask. Jesus stands waiting to give you that all-encompassing peace.
