Start the Year Strong—Body, Mind & Spirit

Sitting in the doctor’s office, I looked at all those around me, mostly older individuals who looked tired and spent. I thought, I don’t feel like these people look. I feel so grateful to be healthy and active at this time in my life. I love my life! Thank you, Lord!

After my routine examination, the doctor looked at me and said, “You are one of the healthiest women I know for your age. Don’t bother coming in for another year.” Again, my silent pray to God was, Thank you, Lord.

What is my secret?

  1. Time in Quiet Meditation–  I believe time sitting quietly reading the Bible and talking with God each morning is the first step to a healthy life. I have been doing this since I was 17 years old regardless of life’s demands and activities. Even when my children were babies and toddlers, I transformed our guest room into a place where I could be alone each morning with God before the family awakened.
  2. Removal of Toxic Foods– I learned this as a result of the doctor’s advice for a woman who suffered from severe arthritis. Remove three types of food from your diet:
  3. Gluten- Whether someone is actually allergic to gluten or not, replacing it with other seeds and flours offers a much healthier lifestyle (almond flour, rice flour, and oats, etc.).
  4. Dairy– We’ve replaced everything dairy with Almond Milk and even non-dairy cheeses are now available. I was so glad because Reen loves cheese!
  5. Sugar– Sugar is the poison that feeds cancer and so many other diseases. Russell Stover makes delicious sugar -free chocolate candies if, like me, you need that one piece of chocolate after a dinner meal. We use Stevia as our sweetener whenever possible. I keep it in my purse.

It may seem impossible to remove these foods, but you’d be surprised how many healthy replacements now exist!

  • Choosing Healthy Foods– Since the Pandemic in particular, I began changing our diet after following The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast by Kristen Feola. This wonderful book removes processed foods and focuses on Anti-Inflammation Foods.
  • Creating a Non-Toxic Environment- One of the best things we discovered over 13 years ago was the Melaleuca Company. They offer a complete range of products all with the goal of health, wellness, and non-toxic consumption including vitamin and herb supplements, energy drinks, oils, makeup, and toiletries, and their cleaning products create a constantly healthy environment where we live and work. As you begin a New Year, why not make being healthy a priority? After all, you are an ambassador of the God if the Universe. “So we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us; we [as Christ’s representatives] plead with you on behalf of Christ to be reconciled to God,” (2 Cor. 5:20) You have a very significant role and your life and health matter. Make it a goal to be the best ambassador you can be for Jesus Christ  in 2026. I’m cheering you on!

Slow the Season. Savor His Presence.
