He’s Coming Again!
Reen and I are reading through the One Year Bible and we both can’t wait to share with one another the new insights God is sharing with us!
Recently, while reading, I was reminded of the description of John the Baptist’s ministry, the fulfillment of Isaiah 40:3, “A voice crying in the wilderness, ’Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him,” (Matthew 3:3).
Echoing John’s Message
Have you ever thought that this is also our message as we await the Lord Jesus’ second coming? We are voices crying in the wilderness of this very broken world, “Prepare the way of the Lord. He is alive. He rose from the dead defeating death and hell. He is coming back soon!”
No, we don’t know how soon. But we are to live every day with the anticipation of His return.
Resurrection and Return
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore, encourage one another with these words. ( I Thess. 4:16-18)
So, what can you do this month to be encourage and encourage others as we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and second coming?
7 Ways to Celebrate
It’s time to slow down, look up, reach out, and live expectantly! Let’s choose to make this holiday different than those before. Let’s make it truly meaningful!
- Begin a Resurrection Devotional Journey
Look for a quiet place. Maybe it’s in your living room before anyone else awakens. Or on a bench beside a nearby lake. Or at the park. Take the time to read the Bible and a short devotional focused on Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Remember the story and marvel at His love for you that He suffered and died so you can live. Even 10–15 minutes each morning can change your perspective for the entire day. - Read Through a Gospel or the One-Year Bible Together
Just as Reen and I are doing, invite your spouse, a friend, or small group to read Scripture simultaneously and share insights. These spiritual conversations supply encouragement and build accountability that goes deeper than surface-level holiday talk. - Prepare a Meaningful Meal with Family or Friends
Instead of frantically focusing on details, emphasize gratitude — choose bread, juice, lamb, or simple dishes that enable you to lead conversations about Christ’s sacrifice and victory. Make this meal meaningful and special, one that is remembered as everyone shares what Resurrection means to them. Add a time of prayer and thanksgiving together. - Send Encouraging Resurrection Message
Whether digital cards, texts, or handwritten notes, reach out intentionally. Share a Scripture, a prayer, or a personal encouragement reminding others that Jesus is alive and hope is real. Be that voice crying out in the wilderness, the antidote for the many who are struggling with anxiety, hopelessness, fear, and depression right now. - Create a Quiet “Breathe and Reflect” Space
Take a break from the hustle and bustle. Light a candle, play worship music, journal, or simply sit in silence inviting the Holy Spirit’s presence. Celebration begins internally before it becomes external. - Encourage Someone Who Needs Hope
Call, visit, or pray with someone who is discouraged, grieving, or lonely. Resurrection celebration is not only remembrance — it is sharing resurrection life. A simple act of kindness can become a living sermon. - Live in Anticipation of His Return
Celebrate not only what Christ has done, but what He will do.
Practice daily expectancy:
- Speak hope-filled words.
- Choose gratitude over complaint.
- Share your faith naturally.
- Encourage others with Scripture like 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
Keep celebration active all month rather than confined to one Sunday. Resurrection is not just an event to remember but a lifestyle to live! By God’s grace and mercy, we are alive in Him by His Spirit living in us when we believe. Tell someone else the Good News that this can be their life as well. Next year they may be celebrating with you!
