Summer Freedom

Yesterday I gave myself permission to do something I rarely do. It’s a summer thing I’ve loved since I was a young girl, but I rarely take time to enjoy.

The sunshine beckoned and my heart yearned to follow. So I did. I put on my bathing suit, coated my face with #30 zinc suntan lotion, gathered my sunglasses and research materials and headed to our little neighborhood swimming pool. Not a soul was there but me. And for the first time this summer, I enjoyed the sheer freedom of a morning spent my way- reading, swimming, sunning, praying, and thinking.

Such a beautiful description of Your Refreshed Life- the freedom to be and do all your Creator designed you to be by fulfilling the purposes He designed you to live. Are you free?

The first step is to choose to live life Jesus’ way, abandoning the old lifestyle that resists God’s will and way (sin), and choosing to follow Jesus in every aspect of life. Jesus says, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” And moments later he adds, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:34-38)

Free indeed. Isn’t that what our hearts yearn for…true freedom? Have you made that commitment to turn from the sin that traps and enslaves you to find the freedom found only in believing and following Jesus?

Choose transformational freedom today. Choose Jesus and allow Him to transform your life into the refreshed, fulfilling life that awaits you!

And do something different this month. Decide what your heart desires as you follow Jesus and give yourself the freedom to do it. Maybe you need to join me at the pool for a time of peace and reflection. I’m waiting for you…
