The Most Marvelous Gift
Christmas is almost here! Are you ready? It’s hard to imagine that in only a few days we will be celebrating the joyous coming of God Himself in the flesh…Immanuel, “God with us” … the God that loves and cares for us so much that He wanted us to know Him personally, not as a mystery character in the sky, but as the most intimate Friend, Jesus Christ. And He came to free us from the only thing that separated us from Him…sin.
Sin is everything in us that raises our hand and says, “I’ll do it my way today, God. I don’t really need you. I’ll direct my life today…I am in control.” This independent refusal to believe, trust and act on the fact that God is our Creator and the One who alone knows what is best for our lives…that is sin. The refusal to follow His personal instructions for our lives in His Living Word, the Bible…that is sin.
Sin is the bondage that robs us of peace and freedom. And because God is perfect and His home in Heaven is perfect, devoid of sin, He can’t allow any form of sin to enter Heaven. “The wages of sin is death,” (Romans 6:23). He explains it so clearly.
So, what does He do? He becomes flesh and blood to live a perfect life, die the perfect death penalty for each of us individually, and then rise again and enter Heaven victorious over sin so we can be truly alive. If we believe, He completely frees us. He breaks the bondage.
In celebration of His most marvelous gift, I am sending you a special Christmas letter and gift tomorrow. Be sure and check your email. I don’t want you to miss it! May it make your Christmas season one you will never forget. Please feel free to share this gift with family, friends and everyone you know. The more people who enjoy it, the better! Merry Christmas!
