Are You Living a Resurrected Life?
What does it mean to live a resurrected life? Resurrection refers to something or someone rising from the dead into new life, an actual rebirth. As Nicodemus in the Bible asked Jesus, “How can anyone be born who has already been born and grown up? You can’t re-enter your mother’s womb and be born again. What are you saying with this ‘born-from-above’ talk?”
Jesus explains:
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.
“This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so the work can be seen for the God-work it is.”
(John 3:4, 16-21)
So, living a resurrected life is about leaving the past behind and moving forward into the future God prepared for you. It’s so easy to be overwhelmed. We watch world affairs on TV, face the sometimes-exhausting demands of daily life, listen to the cares and needs of friends and family, and quickly forget that God offers the promise of an abundant life. Jesus tells us, “I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].”( John 10:10 Amp)
Every day, you can “…cast all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].” ( I Peter 5:7 AMP) Then you can freely embrace fresh starts and the new beginnings of an abundant life as you trust Him to handle everything else. It takes practice and intention, but God’s Spirit will give you the power to do it, if you trust Him.
This is God’s will for you…to know and follow Him with all your heart and leave the rest to Him. Enjoy the life He gives. Anticipate His positive future. Follow in His footsteps to help others. Step into His perfect peace. And find joy. This is my prayer for each of you as we begin a new Spring season filled with hope and promise. Let’s live in Jesus’ resurrected life together!
