Result #4 and #5 Positive Results of Change Unearths New Possibilities and Requires the Ability to Adapt

You’ve done it before, and you can do it now. See the positive possibilities. Redirect the substantial energy of your frustration and turn it into positive effective, unstoppable determination.” Ralph Marston

My daughter Ruthie called me excitedly yesterday, “Mom, I’m calling to give you news about my life. I am going to move to North Carolina!”

Ruthie, who works for the International Justice Mission in D.C., grew up in North Carolina and attended UNC-Chapel Hill. Always warm and friendly, she easily made friends throughout high school and college, remaining close friends today.

With contagious excitement she shared, “I’m moving to Durham and can return to D.C. for monthly meetings since Durham is only 4 hours away,” she continued. “I will be near friends there. At least one good thing seems to have come out of the pandemic – more people can live where they’d like since they now work from home.”

Her frustration at often feeling isolated during COVID fueled her to consider new possibilities.

We’ve looked at the first three positive results of change (check out www.yourrefreshedlife.com):

Positive Result #1- Change Overcomes the Past.

Positive Result #2- Change Enables Happiness

Positive Result #3- Change Eliminates Boredom

Here is Positive Result #4- Change Unearths New Possibilities

With a willingness to change comes the openess to think outside our everyday demands and commitments and consider new possibilities. Klaus Schwab writes, “Change can be frightening, and the temptation is often to resist it. But change almost always provides opportunities – to learn new things, to rethink tired processes, and to improve the way we work.”

What new possibilities are you considering right now? Has the pandemic caused new and fresh beginnings? Are you learning new things? And possibly most importantly, are you identifying and rethinking tired processes in every aspect of your life? What activities and routines are you continuing although they no longer breathe life into your days? What would bring excitement back to your life?

At the same time, as new opportunities arise, we need a willingness to adapt. If we remain rigid, change may occur around us, but we won’t change with it. We won’t reap the benefits. Here is Positive Result #5- Change Requires the Ability to Adapt

Baseball pitcher and sports executive Ralph Marston writes, “Enjoying success requires the ability to adapt. Only by being open to change will you have a true opportunity to get the most from your talent.” Author and motivational speaker Garrison Wynn adds, “Action and adaptability create opportunity.” And finally, author Catherine Pulsifer concludes, “When we allow ourselves to adapt to different situations, life is easier.”

Adapting to life’s twists and turns provides the determination you need to move forward, and grab hold of Your Refreshed Life. And God promises His Presence through every transition as you trust Him to fulfill His purposes for your life. Jesus promises you as His follower, “I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20 Amplified)

So, as you continue to face life’s constant change, anticipate the possibilities, adapt in the moment, and remain determined to live the abundant life God promised you when Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly,” (John 10:10).  That’s a promise that you can rely on for a lifetime!
