Word of the Year
I don’t know about you but I’m so excited we are beginning a new year together! I love the feeling of a clean slate, fresh start, and the promise of new beginnings.
I hope you see it as another opportunity to personally redesign Your Refreshed Life daily. May you be reinvigorated, renewed, and reignited! You can choose to make our life a blessing to yourself and others as you pursue God’s best for your life… the wonderful life He designed just for you.
I had an interesting thing happen several weeks ago as I anticipated the new year. I was writing a letter to Reen in the forward of a journal I purchased for him for Christmas. I prayed first and as I was writing, words I don’t remember reading anytime in the last several years sprung to mind, “Those who sow in tears, will reap with joy bringing in the sheaves.” I realized this meant reaping a harvest.
I felt the Lord was saying to Reen and me both that this was to be a year of harvest after the many difficult years seeking a new career path for Reen having left a 35-year real estate career behind. Yes, there have been tears. The thought these tears will produce a plentiful harvest grabbed my heart as I felt the Lord confirm this promise.
You see, every year I prayerfully seek a word of encouragement and hope as I step into a new year. I ask God for His word representing the year’s future experiences. I was so impressed with this sense that God had a message for us, I searched to find the passage He had brought to mind.
Here is what it says, “Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, ‘the Lord has done great things for them.’ The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad!
They who sow in tears shall reap with joyful singing. He who goes back and forth weeping, carrying his bag of seed [for planting], will indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him” (Psalm 126:2-3, 5-6).
So, I am anticipating a year of laughter, joy, and gratitude for a plentiful harvest of life-giving experiences not soon to be forgotten!
