Built to Last

Linda and I love the television show Lego Masters. While I grew up in the pre-LEGO world, I really enjoyed building with Erector sets, Lincoln logs, and Tinker Toys. We love watching LEGO Masters because it showcases teams of two people working together to create amazing new combinations of plastic building blocks.

Today it seems that instead of building up our nation we are engaged in a cultural war bent on tearing us apart. No matter what news program you watch, you can’t avoid the major issues of this war. This clearly uncivil war rages around us, with no middle ground, only two polarized sides.

But we need not give into despair because God’s Word is the standard for what is true. Ultimately, this battle is the Lord’s. The Bible opens with these famous words, “In the beginning God”. Man did not make the world, nor can man (even with his most destructive weapons) destroy it.

In these times of chaos and strife, we need to cling to God and His faithfulness. One verse that gives great comfort is Jer. 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans for your welfare and not destruction, to give you a hope and a future.”

So as you go through these trying times cling to your faith as never before. Know that “God’s got this” and rest in His plan for Your Refreshed Life.

Comfort food added uncomfortable and unhealthy pounds to us all this year. I was particularly convicted when I read recently in 1 Cor 6:19-20 that “our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.”
