What Limiting Belief Holds You Back?

“I can’t do that. It’s just too much work…will take too long…takes too much energy…is too complicated.” When did you stop trying to do new and interesting things? Are these some of the excuses you’ve developed to fortify your limiting beliefs? If you want to live “Your Refreshed Life” to the fullest, you and I both have to begin challenging these ideas.

I was so proud of my husband! He was raised in a home where he learned very little about carpentry or repairs. He just isn’t Mr. Fix-It and he knows it. But instead of accepting this as his permanent life experience, over the years I have watched him attempt new and different projects that he never previously thought possible.

Recently, I really needed more pantry storage in our kitchen. I asked him if I bought a “do-it-yourself” hutch kit, would he make it for me? He said, “Yes,” not reluctantly, but happily. He was ready to accept the challenge.

It arrived in a huge Amazon box at our front door and even trying to move it seemed daunting. After getting it into the house, he spent an entire evening reading the directions carefully, moving the many pieces around as he visualized how to construct the project. In the end, he spent many more hours than it might have taken someone who was skilled in this area to create it. But, do you know what?

It’s strong, stable and holds my kitchen items perfectly. And he conquered another limiting belief…the belief that he was unable to construct something by himself with the same quality of an already assembled piece of furniture. He crushed that limiting belief!

What limiting belief do you need to crush today? What limiting belief has held you captive, maybe for years, robbing you of the joy of accomplishing a goal or task you’ve long desired?

Don’t let statements like, “I’ve always been terrible with money,” or “I’ve never been creative,” hold you back from accomplishing the plans God has pre-ordained for your life. We read in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].

What a tremendous opportunity! Let’s reject limiting beliefs and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives!
