Day 12 – Angels We Have Heard on High

Do you know someone who adores a specific musical artist? Or a friend who adores a celebrity? Or a neighbor who adores her dog?

We use the word “adore” in conversation so freely, but do we ever stop to think what it means? To “adore” means to regard with the utmost esteem, love, and respect; to honor, to pay divine honor, to worship.

Have you ever focused your time and attention on truly adoring God? What an exhilarating thought.

“Gloria in Excelsis Deo” actually means “Glory in the highest to God,” and in the English version, “Glory be to God on high.” How about giving Him glory today by sharing your heart of love and adoration for Him, the One who loves you more than any other ever could!

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o’er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echo back their joyous strains.

Refrain:
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heav’nly song.

Refrain:
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord, the newborn King.

Refrain:
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Gloria in excelsis Deo!

“Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant and boundless mercy has caused us to be born again [that is, to be reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] to an ever-living hope and confident assurance through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…” (I Peter 1:3 Amplifed)
