I wonder if anyone ever told you the especially important fact that you are ”fearfully and wonderfully made”? Did you believe them? Are you thinking, “how can this be true with some of the choices I’ve made or ones that people have made for me?” Maybe you don’t feel so “wonderfully made”.
IF you had known this fact, maybe you would not have… lied, cheated, been judgmental, critical, had an affair, an abortion and so on. Maybe if you knew how wonderfully you were made, you would have been able to stand up to the person who abused you repeatedly, which led to all kinds of destructive behavior. Based on my experience, this is common, and we often carry guilt and shame.
Well, today is a new day! If you are reading this – YOU HAVE A PURPOSE! Yes, you were wonderfully made! God said so in His word, the Bible, and He never lies! David tells God, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know this well.” (Psalm 139:14) God’s grace and mercy are new every day.
Only God has the right to define you. When you are in Christ, you are in right relationship with God (called “His righteousness”) and you are beautiful to Him. No choice, no matter how bad, can be beyond the grace of God! We do have responsibility and each choice does have consequences, but we are forgiven by the one true God. God will redeem your painful circumstances no matter what.
David reminds us, “And with Him is redemption in abundance.” (Psalm 130:7)
So where do we go from here? Guilt and shame often have a negative effect on our overall wellness. As a Health and Wellness Coach, I would ask you to consider any area that you see your life may be off balance? Consider these ten elements:
Physical- Are you doing any type of exercise? How often?
Spiritual- Are you spending any time quietly reflecting, or meditating?
Emotional- Are you feeling sad, happy, anxious, overwhelmed or you fill in the blank?
Environmental- Are you practicing an environmentally mindful lifestyle?
Intellectual- Are you learning something new, taking a class, learning a new hobby or trade?
Nutritional- Are you making healthy food choices? Would you like to do better?
Protectoral- Do you feel safe in all your environments, including home and work?
Social- How are your relationships with friends and family? Do you struggle in this area?
Occupational- Are you currently working, or do you enjoy your job?
Financial- Are you responsible with your money? Are you impulsive?
Then, I would ask you to list three current goals for yourself related to your health and wellness and identify the most important one (be as specific as you can). You might consider seeking a Coach to help you reach your goals.
Never underestimate the deep love God has for you, and the significance of what He has given you to do. You were uniquely created. He will help you deal with your past and bless others all for His Glory.
“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.’’ 2 Thessalonians 2:17
