7 Positive Results of Change
Red, yellow, orange, and green leaves flutter downward encircling us in the confetti of fall’s beauty. Crisp, cool air splashes our faces as we set out on our morning walk. Refreshing… change arrives suddenly. Your Refreshed Life thrives on change because it offers new beginnings and fresh starts.
But change is a strange thing. It is feared by so many. I’ve always wondered why it is we tend to cling to the routine structure of something known, even when miserable, then risk the change of the unknown?
So, as fall invites us into its change, let’s look at “7 Positive Results of Change” during the next weeks.
Reason #1- Change Overcomes the Past
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Socrates
Are there things you’d like to change in your life? Rather than grieving over the old that may have harmed or hurt you, focus on the new thing that can be yours by simply stepping into a new future. It’s your choice. You always have the power to make a change in your life even if it is simply making a change in your attitude.
Sometimes making a change is recognizing that it is already in process. Has something dramatically changed in your life? Your child leaves for college. Your husband takes a new job. You start a new hobby. Then change is underfoot. It’s happening all around you. Embrace it with anticipation and see what the future holds. God inspires us to look up and see what it is He is doing.
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:18-19)
Here is a modern paraphrase of these words,
““Forget about what’s happened;
don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.
It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?
There it is! I’m making a road through the desert,
rivers in the badlands. (Isaiah 43:18-19 The Message)
As you move into this fall, look around you and see what God is already doing in your life. What can you do to join Him in His process? Leave the past behind and step into a new future. It’s up to you. It’s your choice. Make the choice to experience all that God offers each day, one day at a time.
