Born With A Mission

Do you wonder, what’s next? What do you do now?  That’s really the question our whole nation is asking in light of current affairs. What is our “new normal”?

My children and I have enjoyed lively text discussions (with articles shared and videos sent) over the last weeks concerning all that is happening in our nation. We are all growing as we explore the differing positions we hold,  understanding one another better. Ultimately we all agree though, it all boils down to the human heart…each person individually.

What transforms society? Transformation in the lives of its people. And who alone can bring actual, permanent transformation from the inside out? Only Jesus Christ. All the best intentions in the world cannot change a human heart. Only God can.

So as Christ-followers we have a mission…a mission with a message.  While the world looks for answers to the current affairs that confront us, we have been given the “ministry of reconciliation.” And if our nation and our world ever needed reconciliation, it is now!  Paul writes,

“Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord…
For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all… that those who live should no longer live for themselves
but for him who died for them and was raised again.

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.

And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” ( II Cor. 5)

Without fear, may we reach out to all those who cross our paths with a love only possible in God. May we lead them to the only One who can help and heal them. May we follow our Master Jesus, reaching out to those questioning, searching to understand, and lead them to the only One with the answers they so need.

Have you ever wondered if you had a calling? Well, you have one now.  Listen carefully to all those around you and when the questions come, ask Jesus’ Holy Spirit to give you the ability to share an answer for the hope that lies within you.

My friend, may others come to see and know Jesus Christ who lives within you today! You were born for this moment!
