5 Questions to Ask Before Making a Change

Lately, it seems like every person I talk with is assessing life and deciding that now is the time to make changes. In the hurried, harried life before COVID-19 they may have overlooked or avoided these changes for years. Change seems to be the word for this unprecedented period.

Here are some examples:

*Friends in Pawleys Island decided to sell their condo and move to be closer to family.

*One Maryland friend did something he’s never done before. He shut his phone down for a week to take his family camping in Myrtle Beach. He said if he misses real estate deals, it doesn’t matter. He’s putting his family first before business.

*Another family with self-employed income, is selling their home simply to deposit the profit in the bank, offering them new flexibility.

Change that comes after assessing and evaluating life is a good thing. This pandemic and national upheaval has certainly provided time to think, re-assess and identify ways we might better live our lives.

SO here are some questions to ask yourself when making these decisions:

  1. Have you prayed and sought God’s will for your life? He knows what is best for you and every member of your family since He knows the future and His plans for each life. (Jeremiah 29:11)
  2. Have you asked God to show you a pertinent passage in the Bible to offer you direction and confirmation of your decision in your personal situation? (Psalm 119:105)
  3. Have you discussed your decision with people you trust who will respond honestly? (Proverbs 15:22)
  4. Do circumstances seem to be pointing you in this direction? (Proverbs 16:9)
  5. Do you have peace? God, through His Holy Spirit, will give you supernatural peace in your heart if you are following Him correctly. (Isaiah 26:3, Phil 4:7)
