7 Was to Thrive in Pandemic Times

#1 Depend on God

Perseverance.  Grit. The ability to remain strong in the face of adversity.  These are good words that speak of survival. We need these words.

But at the same time, is it possible to do more than survive? Is it possible to thrive when things get tough?

How can you do it?

For the next 7 weeks we will look at ways that help us thrive rather than merely survive in difficult times. Let’s get started…

#1. Rely on Someone Greater Than Yourself. No matter how strong you think you are, in difficult times all the strength you can muster is minimal in comparison to the strength and greatness of your Almighty God. Look at what the prophet Isaiah and Paul say about God.

Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
    Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
    and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
    not one of them is missing.  (Isaiah 40:26)

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. (I Cor. 1:25)

How can you tap into that strength? You can bring your concerns to Him and trust Him to supernaturally intervene in your situation.  You can know He will give you the strength you need to confront any problem. Like the apostle Paul you can repeat and depend on His promise, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” (Phil. 4:13)

Here are the testimonies of those in the Bible as they reflect on God’s strength…

The Sovereign Lord is my strength.”  (Habakkuk 3:19)

“Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.” (Psalm 105:4)

The Lord is my strength and my defense.”  (Exodus 15:2)

It is God who arms me with strength
    and keeps my way secure.” ( II Samuel 22:33)

The Lord is my strength and my shield;
    my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.”  (Psalm 28:7)

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.”  ( Psalm 46:1)

God’s strength is greater than any other and He waits ready to give it to you. Let’s reach out and take hold of the strength He waits to give us today!

The Lord gives strength to his people;
    the Lord blesses his people with peace.” ( Psalm 29:11)
