Who Spends Your Time?
After traveling the nation for several decades speaking to thousands of women, I find that busyness and use of time continues to be an issue for almost every woman I meet. “Where does the time go?” “How can I find more time?” “Time flies and I’m NOT having fun!”, is the concurrent theme.
It’s amazing how we feel victims concerning our time. And yet, several weeks ago I heard the best acrostic for the word BUSY.
BECAUSE
YOU
SAID
YES
It does seem due to our compassionate nature and habitual ability to serve others, (particularly wives and mothers who have sacrificed much to “be there” for our spouses and children), we find it very difficult to say “No.” And it seems we feel we must meet every need we recognize.
There are two interesting quotes I discovered while preparing to write this blog. See if they don’t resonate with you…
“Time is the most valuable coin in your life. You and you alone will determine how that coin will be spent. Be careful that you do not let other people spend it for you.”
― Carl Sandburg
“You get to decide where your time goes. You can either spend it moving forward, or you can spend it putting out fires. You decide. And if you don’t decide, others will decide for you.”
― Tony Morgan
You alone can learn to say “No”. You alone can keep others from spending your time. But how? How do you know what to say “No” to and when to say, “Yes”?
We will discuss different ways to answer that question in the coming month’s newsletter and blogs. Don’t miss it. It will change your life!
