Stage 2 of Transition: Anticipate God’s Miracles Free Book Prize

Transition is an unpleasant fact of life and facing the unknown can be traumatic. But God is in every transition, ready and willing to help us He reveals His will for each step, stage, and transition! As Paul explains to the Ephesians, “For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us]” ( Eph. 2:10 Amp).

Last week we discussed Stage One: “Face the Facts.”  This week, as we prayerfully surrender, trust God, and wait in wonder to see what He plans to do, we can experience Stage Two: Anticipate God’s Miracles.

We are currently experiencing one of the greatest steps of faith we have taken. Knowing we must move due to Reen’s health issues, we surrendered to God and began waiting for His next steps for where to live and what work He has for our future. I am excited to give God the glory for the phenomenal miracles He has performed in this process so far:

  1. Our friend, Sue McMillan, informed us that a couple, Dennis and Kelly, was looking for a place to stay since the wife’s sleep apnea is causing them to move to a lower elevation. Since our home is at a lower elevation, Sue wondered if they might stay in our basement, thinking it had a kitchen. I explained it did not and dismissed the idea. Days later I awakened in the night with the distinct impression that we were to meet them and discuss the possibility. After meeting them, they decided they would appreciate staying in our basement which has proved that sleeping at a lower altitude indeed can almost completely resolve her problem.

  2. Kelly is a nurse training to be a midwife. As Reen’s condition worsened, she and her husband quickly identified part of Reen’s problem to be his CPAP machine that needed recalibrating, so Dennis recalibrated the machine and Reen felt some improvement.

  3. Reen’s problem with shortness of breath, congestion, and exhaustion escalated. We felt God led us to use our timeshare to visit Myrtle Beach to evaluate if the sea level elevation could change Reen’s situation. Overnight, Reen felt revitalized, and breathed easier. The congestion that plagued him for at least two months disappeared and confirmed that the elevation is the problem. Upon our return, we realized we must move because Reen’s issues reappeared in the Colorado Springs elevation.

  4. With the need to move, the thought of selling, consigning, and packing up the entire house was overwhelming. Instead of putting everything on online sites, the Lord brought to my mind the possibility of simply using a nearby Consignment Shop to sell what we couldn’t move.

  5. After visiting the consignment shop and talking with the owner, a stranger followed us out of the store and asked us if he could come see our furniture. He said he needed to complete furnishing one of his two homes. Suspicious at first, we quickly learned he was a neonatal surgeon and legitimate (we googled him 😊). He and his wife came the next day and bought four pieces of furniture. The consignment store owner came two days later and said he wanted everything we were willing to sell. Only God could have orchestrated all this!

  6. Also, last week Reen had a particularly bad day feeling extremely exhausted and his face looked gray. So, we went to the ER where Reen was diagnosed with afib as his heart raced at 160 beats. The hospital medicated him to reduce the pounding and made a follow-up appointment with a pulmonologist where he was told the doctor heard “crackling”…possibly indicating further issues.

  7. Dennis and Kelly encouraged us to go to Denver’s National Jewish Health Hospital, the best pulmonology hospital in the nation. Reen will be scheduling an appointment with them. Dennis also told us about a condition called HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema) which may be impacting Reen’s health.

  8. Additionally, Dennis offered to coordinate with some of the 400 men at the Bible study Reen attends, to pack our things if we need to leave immediately, since the move alone could alleviate all Reen’s health problems.

  9. Finally, as of today, we are going to postpone “shocking Reen’s heart” since it possibly is completely unnecessary if we return to a lower altitude. We are going to go to one of the best heart hospitals in Edmonds, Oklahoma for a second opinion.

Sorry for the VERY long blog…but I had to demonstrate the extreme lengths God will go to if we trust Him with anticipation! His ways and thoughts are not ours and He has plans we can never imagine! As I wrote in one of my books, “There is no accident in God’s economy.”
