Three Radical Steps Today

We’ve been talking about resurrection and how important it really is. Jesus is constantly taking our situations and bringing His resurrection power to bear in our lives. And maybe more than ever in our lifetime, we have the opportunity to demonstrate that power to those around us right now!

We can do this by choosing, in the face of COVID-19, to remain in a place of peace and faith rather than fear. We can demonstrate his power by reaching out to our neighbors who are suffering anxiety and depression. As we “shelter-at-home,” we can make a phone call or write a note and when needed carry groceries to a senior citizen or babysit children for someone who must work.

Paul tells us that God wants us to live this way…expecting His resurrection power actively at work within us and through us. Paul writes, “And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life…through His Spirit, who lives in you.” His power lives IN YOU.

How can you remain prepared to demonstrate God’s power at any moment, at any time?
Here are three simple steps:

  1. Set a specific time each day to spend with God. Read God’s Word and listen to hear His voice. Whether you are confused, overwhelmed, or simply want to know how God wants you to spend your day, you can turn to Him and ask for His direction and His Holy Spirit’s power. He will show you how to live His promised resurrected, refreshed life.
  2. Constantly stay in fellowship with God, talking to Him throughout the day. That’s really all prayer is…conversation with God. You can turn to God for every aspect of life, from the smallest to the largest detail.
  3. Take action! If God brings someone to your mind to pray for, encourages you to call a friend, run an imperative errand, or send a note… Do it! It’s so easy to rationalize that God is not in these smallest details, but He is. And He’s calling you to act for His Name’s sake to fulfill His eternal purposes. You never know whose life you may touch and change forever.

The resurrected life is one often outside our comfort zone. Speaking and living resurrection is a radical life. It shines in the face of a world with so many separated from God, lost in futility and despair. It means not following the world’s ways and ideas but following those guidelines clearly given by God in His Word …a lifestyle that represents heaven on earth.

Remember Jesus’ model prayer for us, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” That’s what God wants to see and is waiting to make happen if we only ask.

So today, let’s pray that the life of heaven will be lived through us here on earth by the Holy Spirit’s power and for God’s glory alone!  Let’s celebrate the amazing resurrection lifestyle that He promises every day when we trust Him!
