The Power of ONE Word

Hello dear friends and readers. Linda and I fervently hope you celebrate your best year yet in 2023. We earnestly pray that God will do “superabundantly more than all we dare or ask or think (infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams)” (Eph 3:20 AMP).

What can help make this possible?  Linda and I discovered several years ago that applying the power of focus can make an amazing impact and one word can make a difference.

So, what is this powerful word? Are you curious to learn it? What would knowing and applying the power of this one word do for you? Much as a magnifying glass can harness the power of the distant sun to ignite a leaf, the word you select to use to harness your sincere desire for change can ignite your life!

As authors Dan Britton, Jimmy Page, and Jon Gordon share in their amazing book One Word, choosing one single word to focus on throughout the year is a simple yet powerful way to bring clarity and emphasis to the specific area in your life you wish to positively impact. Only you know what your word is because only you know in what area you would most like to be transformed. Maybe it is your health, finances, relationships, or walk with God.

Take some time to prayerfully consider what one area you’d most like to see emerge transformed in 2023 like a caterpillar emerging from its cocoon as a glorious butterfly soaring in the sky. Then write this word in your journal and tape it to your mirror or refrigerator so you will constantly be reminded. Then pray about it throughout the day. Look up your word (or what is closest in meaning) in a concordance and study every verse in the Bible that pertains to it. Memorize the ones that most resonate with you and pray them every day.

For Linda, her word is “joy.” As she so candidly shares, “In the midst of all the chaos, confusion, angst, and upheaval we are experiencing in our culture, I wanted to focus on joy this year because I know Jesus promises joy regardless of the world around us.” We love what Nehemiah says in  Nehemiah 8:10, “And do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold.” By focusing on her word joy, she will be strengthened. God promises it.

My word for 2023 is Prosper. If you want to make great strides forward in your business and finances…you won’t want to miss next week’s blog!

May He empower your life, enabling you to conquer areas that have long held you captive. May He transform your dreams into reality. And when you experience your best year yet, we pray you give God the praise for helping you accomplish these wonderful things. May you be a powerful witness to those around you.

As always, we are here to support, encourage, and pray for you. Feel free to reach out to Linda at lindamwaterman@gmail.com or me at reen.waterman@navigators.org.
