Stage 3 of Transition: Take Action

Stage 3 of Transition: Take Action

Friends, here we are several weeks into our unexpected transition and moving forward! Transition can be overwhelming and immobilizing, yet God meets every need, and miracle after miracle continues! I listed many last week but before we discuss “Stage Three: Take Action,” I want to share one more miracle as we see God directing us.

Last Thursday a moving company from a consignment shop came to pick up the furniture we are consigning. We had three huge metal bookcases in the basement but after almost an hour of strategizing, they finally admitted they simply couldn’t get them out of the basement so they called another mover to come to assist us.

This second company came the next day and moved our bookcases out of the house. Because we had gotten a $12,000 quote from a national mover, we asked this mover if he did long-haul moves and he made us a super price. He was absolutely another answer to prayer and someone we would have never met if the bookcases were easily moved the day before! I could tell so many more stories of God’s faithfulness (including Reen getting a clear CATscan result on his lungs), but we don’t have enough space here.

So, let’s move on to the next stage in transition which is to “Take Action.” There is an old saying that states, “It’s easier to move a car in neutral than a parked car.” As you wait on God in anticipation simply do the next thing–take one small step of faith at a time.

When the Israelites were to cross the Jordan River, God told Joshua how the people and the priests were to prepare for the crossing. The priests were first to step into the raging waters and only then would God separate the waters bringing about dry land in the midst of the river so the people could cross. Their step of faith preceded the miracle. They had to first step into the water believing God’s promise would take place.

The Lord said to Joshua… You shall command the priests who carry the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.’” Joshua said to the Israelites, “Come here, and listen to the words of the Lord your God.” Joshua said, “By this, you shall know that the living God is among you and that He will, without fail, drive (your enemies) out from before you… Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over ahead of you [leading the way] into the Jordan. So now take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man from each tribe. When the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, [come to] rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan flowing down from above will be cut off, and they will stand in one mass [of water]” (Joshua 1:7-13).

They obeyed and God fulfilled His promise. The waters separated and the nation of Israel walked through the sea on the dry land God created before them. Now if God can do that if I trust Him and take simple steps of faith, can’t He provide a way for us as He directs and guides? Can’t He do the same for you as you trust Him? Absolutely. He can and HE IS!
