Reimagining YOUR Second Act

Reimagining YOUR Second Act

Since financial freedom is this month’s topic, let’s talk about the fact that research shows women 45+ are increasingly interested in finding new ways to generate income. I know this is true because I share a Zoom meeting monthly with a group of friends across the country  who are all looking for direction for their Second Act. And if it produces income, all the better!

So, how do you find your “next thing” ? Here are some quick tips:

  • Take an Assessment Test– What are your gifts, skills, and abilities? Things have changed over the years. You’ve grown in experience, knowledge, insight, and skills. You now have more to offer and yet, have you lost sight of the things you’re genuinely passionate about?  Remember what excites you within and pursue this in the future.
  • Renew Your Purpose– Take time to reflect and think about your purpose at this life season. What matters most to you? Is it increased income in preparation for retirement? Leaving a legacy? Helping others to meet their needs, physically, emotionally, or spiritually?  Refresh your sense of purpose for this moment in time and history. God put you on this earth for a reason. Don’t lose sight of that now.
  • Pray for Direction from the Lord– It’s easy to launch into something new because you’re bored, frustrated, or anxious to get started. Wait, Take time to pray and Ask the Lord what He wants for you in this moment in time. Read the Bible daily. Pray about what you read. Ask for guidance, wisdom, and clarity. Then take action. Otherwise, you may find yourself lost in a project God never intended for you to pursue. Jesus tells us, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing,” ( John 15:5).Any action taken no matter how good it may appear, if not motivated by Jesus and empowered by His Spirit, is worthless…it holds no eternal value. Be certain that actions you take count for eternity.
